Costa Rica is a spectacular country bridging North and South America. Supporting eco-tourism and the preservation of nature it has a very high number of protected national parks.
If you love wildlife then this is definitely the place to go, you cannot escape the abundance of species here, including monkeys, racoons and sloths. There are some of the most unusual and colourful birds in the world in Costa Rica, such as the endangered Scarlet Macaw, we would advise joining one of the many guided bird watching tours available.
If you want a faster pace then you could try an exhilarating session of white water rafting or river tubing. Horse riding, diving and snorkelling is also available in many resorts.
A large number of hotels and resorts are focussed on sustainability and many have carbon neutral status.
The temperatures in February are around 27°C, it is the dry season with an average of 10mm of rain falling in the month.
This fabulous eco-friendly retreat is only accessible by boat. It is situated in its own private rain forest directly on the beach.
With only a small number of rooms and casitas it is perfect to get away from it all and experience true nature. The rooms in the main lodge are simply but elegantly decorated with local art works. Some of the detached casitas have plunge pools and outdoor bathrooms.

Temperatures in February are typically around 21°c. At this time of year there is a small possibility of a bit of rain and wind but the sun still shines most of the time.
